First and foremost, welcome to my website and indeed to the first blog I've written for this site (and indeed for any site for a while). I thought this might be a good way for me to document the life of an entertainer and what happens on a day-to-day or weekly basis as we bumble through the life of entertainment. Those of you that know me well, will know that life has changed quite a bit for me over the last couple of months. In February, I was unfortunately diagnosed with prostate cancer and so I have been dealing with the process of what stages of treatment to go through and to be prepared for. I'm quite happy to say that due to my young age for this diagnosis, the doctors have agreed that surgery is the best way forward for me.
I'm based in Sussex and there is only one hospital that has the robot (yes that's right campers, a robot) that is capable of performing the operation, so I'm on a waiting list of approximately two months. I will be in recovery for a while after that but hopefully, I'll be fit, fighting and raring to entertain again by the end of summer. The main issue I'm having at the moment is sleep!
So what does that mean for upcoming gigs?
Well nothing initially, as much as my health allows me I will continue to gig up until surgery. It looks like I will almost certainly have to miss most of the cricket season at Sussex, which is frustrating as this would have been my 20th season at Hove! Other than that I'm hoping the treament will have minimal impact on my working life.
This month I have a couple of Butlins Big Weekenders with Minehead kicking us off this week (17th-19th) with a 00's weekender. I've got a decent schedule as always, with Soul Stroll, Saddle-Up, Daytime Rave, Centre Stage on Saturday night and hosting the Girl Band Sing-A-Long on Sunday afternoon! I hope I'll be seeing a few of you there.
Next weekend I head up to Skegness for the 80's weekend which will be absolutely massive!
There is quite a bit going on in the background as we look towards the second half of the year post-surgery. The first ever Soul Stroll outside of the UK takes place in Benidorm in about 6 weeks time on Wednesday 20th May! If all goes well then we hope this could become a regular staple of the Beni season. At this stage I'm still unsure due to dates as to whether or not I'll be able to make it over, but I hope I will even if just for a couple of days. If you will be in Benidorm around that time, we would love to see you, the event link is below and tickets are selling well!!
If you want me to put the frightners on you, I had my first enquiry for Christmas events the other day! Feels like it was only yesterday everyone was on the December grind and here we are, a third of the way back to it already! I currently have New Years Eve free and a host of December dates, so if you are planning Xmas events etc, feel free to get in touch.
I have to give a mention to my recent Sunday gig in Rosso at Bognor for the 90's weekend. It was an absolutely incredible atmosphere and the first time I've ever seen the room one in one out!

Also I would like to add, if your one of the weekender crew that has never tried an 80's weekender I can't stress enough how good they are. This is a little video I took in Rosso at 5pm on the Friday afternoon!
That will do for now as this was just intended to get the first blog off the ground. I will do my best to keep these up to date and as regular as possible.
Hopefully see you at either Minehead or Skegness over the next few weeks, if not I'll see you on a dancefloor soon!
All the best
Mark x
